Hey everybody and welcome back! Today we’ll be discussing how the latest software update for FileMaker Pro has improved user solution creation.

For Windows users, the software update will result in the program being more streamlined and intuitive. It has corrected issues that many people experienced in the past, including the number of field repetitions resetting to one after an auto-enter calculation was created, and database administrators being able to lock users out of a file by using basic security settings.

For those on OS X platforms, FileMaker will no longer have an error which causes the program to switch erratically to Browse mode and cause the program to close completely. As long as users download the update, they can look forward to a more rewarding experience.

One of the greatest features of FileMaker 14 is the “Reconnect to Server” option. You might not even be aware of its existence, as it is buried at the bottom of the What’s New page. This will allow you to walk away from your computer with the files still open without risk of losing the information you have entered.

The Script Workspace feature has also been cleaned up since the last version of FileMaker, so now writing and assembling scripts is a streamlined process. You can do more with the keyboard without having to reach for the mouse.

It’s a situation nobody wants to deal with — losing a server connection and having all of your work go with it. Now FileMaker 14 puts you right back where you were in your solution when the connection was dropped, saving you time and frustration.

FileMaker 14 also comes with enhanced password protection. When you are setting the password, the admin control will evaluate how strong it is, and there will also be a four digit number required if you ever want to change that password.
